InterContinental Grenada Resort, a new InterContinental Caribbean resort, sits on one of the most picturesque beaches in the region. The 5-star resort is a government-approved project under Grenada’s citizenship by investment program, with investment starting from US$270,000.

InterContinental Grenada Resort is a luxury 5-star resort from the brand of the same name, set on one of the most picturesque beaches in the Caribbean. This 5-star resort is a project approved by the Government of Grenada for investors seeking Grenada citizenship, with investment starting from US$270,000.

Construction of InterContinental Grenada Resort officially began in July 2022. It is the newest 5-star resort project from the InterContinental brand in the Caribbean. The Caribbean is known for some of the world’s most beautiful beaches and unspoiled natural landscapes. As a result, tourism is a leading economic sector in the region, accounting for more than 50% of GDP in many of its countries. Caribbean countries record more than 26 million international visitor arrivals each year. These factors help explain why the global InterContinental hotel chain continues to expand its presence in the region.

The InterContinental brand: a symbol of prestige

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is a brand of InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG), one of the world’s leading hotel groups. With more than 70 years of history, InterContinental has become a byword for luxury, refinement, and exceptional service in global travel and hospitality. With more than 200 hotels across the continents, the brand offers authentic leisure and discovery experiences in gateway destinations worldwide and has long set the pace in luxury travel.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts (the forerunner of InterContinental Hotels Group) was founded in the 1940s by Juan Trippe, founder of Pan American World Airways (Pan Am). The airline carried business travelers and political leaders to countries around the world, and Trippe saw the need for a large international hotel network to serve its passengers. He wanted travelers to choose Pan Am not only for the service on board, but also because, once they landed, they could stay at an InterContinental hotel. This business philosophy helped InterContinental grow into a global hotel empire with a presence in many of the world’s leading travel gateways.

InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is one of IHG’s six Luxury & Lifestyle brands. The group’s growth strategy is reflected in the steadily rising number of InterContinental Hotels & Resorts properties: the brand had 212 hotels and resorts in 2019 and 216 by 2023, with nearly 72,000 rooms worldwide and 99 more hotels and resorts under construction and expected to open soon. This flagship brand made a significant contribution to the US$25.8 billion in total gross revenue reported by parent company IHG for 2022. In addition, the IHG One Rewards loyalty program (formerly IHG Rewards Club), with more than 100 million members and a range of attractive benefits, has helped keep the average occupancy rate at around 70%.

InterContinental Grenada Resort: 5-star luxury from a brand with the pedigree to match

InterContinental Grenada Resort is a 5-star resort on La Sagesse Beach, one of the most picturesque beaches in the Caribbean. The resort is planned with 150 rooms, including 30 premium private suites, a range of restaurants and bars, a luxury pool with an outdoor grill area, a fitness center, a spa, and up to 600 m² of meeting and event space.

InterContinental Grenada will offer a full range of luxury amenities, thoughtfully designed to immerse guests in Grenada’s traditional character and unspoiled natural beauty while ensuring complete relaxation. The resort is conveniently located just a 30-minute drive from Maurice Bishop International Airport and the center of the capital, St. George’s. It is expected to open and begin operations in late 2026.

Investing in a 5-star resort: a pathway to Grenada citizenship and global mobility for your family

Grenada’s citizenship by investment program was established in 2013 to attract foreign investment and support the island nation’s economic development. To qualify through this route, investors must invest at least US$270,000 in a government-approved resort real estate project such as InterContinental Grenada Resort and hold the investment for 5 years (compared with a US$350,000 minimum for other projects).

Once the application is approved, the investor and eligible family members are granted Grenada citizenship and may apply for Grenada passports, which carry a range of benefits. Investors may also receive an annual share of rental income once the resort is operating, along with investor-only privileges such as 7 complimentary nights at the resort.

A Grenada passport offers investors and their families a number of benefits, including:

  • Grenada citizenship is permanent, and Grenada allows dual citizenship.
  • The Grenada passport offers visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 147 destinations, including the United Kingdom and the 29 Schengen Area countries (Germany, Italy, France, Finland, and others). Holders can stay in the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period and in the UK for up to 180 days per year.
  • With Grenada citizenship, investors and their families may become eligible to apply for a U.S. E-2 visa after being domiciled in Grenada for at least 3 consecutive years.
  • Access to education and healthcare in Grenada. Leading universities in Grenada often partner with universities in the United States and the United Kingdom. Notably, Grenada is home to St. George’s University (SGU), the world’s third-largest source of physicians for the United States.
  • For some investors, Caribbean citizenship can also support tax planning. These countries generally do not tax the foreign-source personal or corporate income of non-resident citizens, and they do not levy inheritance or gift taxes.
