September 11, 2025 · Turkey · 13-minute read
As of September 1, 2025, the Turkey e-visa for Vietnamese citizens is available through a simplified procedure, with reasonable fees and much shorter processing times. The change is strategic: beyond strengthening tourism and trade ties, it gives Vietnamese business owners faster access to a market with strong potential and lays the groundwork for residency planning, Turkish citizenship by investment, and preserving family wealth in this gateway between Asia and Europe.

Turkey e-visa 2025: a new option for Vietnamese citizens
From September 1, 2025, Vietnamese citizens holding ordinary passports can apply directly for an electronic visa (e-visa) to Turkey, without the previous requirement to hold a valid visa for the United States, the United Kingdom, the Schengen Area, or Ireland.
According to the Turkish Embassy’s announcement, this is a major improvement in visa procedures, intended to promote tourism, trade, people-to-people exchange, and strategic cooperation between the two countries.

Official announcement from the Turkish Embassy in Hanoi on June 3, 2025
- E-visa validity: 180 days from your intended date of entry into Turkey (for example, if your intended entry date is September 8, 2025, the e-visa is valid until March 6, 2026).
- Visa type: single-entry visa, allowing a stay of up to 30 days in Turkey.
- Estimated cost: US$45 visa fee + US$6 service fee (US$51 total).
- How to apply: online through the official system at https://evisa.gov.tr/en/info/
The e-visa covers tourism and short-term business travel only. E-visa holders may not work, study, or reside long term in Turkey.
Notably, the entire process is digital, and complete applications can be processed quickly, potentially within a few hours to a few days. This is a turning point that removes procedural barriers that once held back many Vietnamese business owners and investors.
Turkey e-visa requirements: documents to prepare
What you need to apply for the e-visa online:
- Passport: an ordinary Vietnamese passport valid for at least 6 months from your intended date of entry into Turkey.
- Email: an active email address to receive the e-visa once issued.
- International payment card: Visa, Mastercard, or UnionPay to pay the visa fee online.
Documents to bring on your trip (to present on arrival):
Once your e-visa is issued, print it and carry it with the following documents to present to border officials at the Turkish airport if requested:
- A printed copy of the issued e-visa.
- Original passport (the one used to apply for the e-visa).
- Return flight ticket.
- Hotel booking confirmation.
- Travel insurance (recommended).
If you do not meet the e-visa requirements, you can still apply for a traditional visa at the Turkish Embassy with supporting documents such as travel insurance, bank statements, an employment contract, an invitation letter from a Turkish company, and a business license.
The new e-visa policy: key changes from the previous rules
Before September 2025
- Vietnamese citizens could apply for an e-visa only if they held a valid visa for, or had previously entered, the United States, the Schengen Area, the United Kingdom, or Australia.
- The process was lengthy and costly, and many applicants had to apply for a traditional visa at the embassy, with an extensive set of supporting documents.
After September 1, 2025
- All you need is a Vietnamese passport valid for at least 6 months.
- Apply online and pay by international card (Visa or Mastercard).
- A streamlined process that cuts cost and time.
What the Turkey e-visa means: speed, convenience, and wider opportunities
- Speed: complete the visa process online in a matter of days rather than the weeks it used to take, so you can plan business trips and travel more flexibly.
- Trade ties: makes it easier for Vietnamese business owners and investors to travel to Turkey, meet partners, assess the market, and act quickly on business opportunities.
- A strategic first step: a practical option for scouting trips, especially to view real estate projects and prepare for Turkey’s citizenship by investment program.
Turkish citizenship by investment: latest update, September 2025
Investment
Purchase real estate in Turkey worth at least US$400,000 and hold it for at least 3 years.
Benefits of holding Turkish citizenship
- A strategic location at the crossroads of 3 continents (Asia, Europe, and Africa), convenient for travel and international business.
- Visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to more than 110 destinations.
- High-quality healthcare and education, recognized in Europe and internationally.
- Your spouse and children can be included in the same application.
- Turkey permits dual citizenship, so Turkish law does not require you to give up your current citizenship; check whether your home country also allows it.
- Turkish real estate offers income potential, and prices have tended to rise steadily on average year over year; past performance does not guarantee future returns.
- Turkey is an E-2 treaty country, so Turkish citizens may be eligible for the US E-2 Treaty Investor visa to live and invest in the United States; those who acquired citizenship through investment face additional US requirements.
Strategies for investors
- Diversify your assets: real estate in Istanbul and Antalya offers potential for both rental income and capital growth.
- Protect your assets and your family’s interests: a second citizenship can serve as a safeguard in an uncertain world.
- Broaden your children’s educational and global mobility options with a passport that carries weight in the region.
