Grenada Passport Validity Extended to 10 Years, With Visa-Free or Visa-on-Arrival Access to 147 Destinations (Updated June 19, 2025)

June 19, 2025 · Grenada · 13 min read

Since July 1, 2024, the Grenada passport validity period for citizens aged 18 and over has been 10 years, up from 5 years. The change was introduced under the Passport (Amendment) Act No. 11 of 2024, passed by the Parliament of Grenada.

Grenada passport now valid for 10 years, with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 147 destinations (updated June 19, 2025)

For citizens under 18, passports remain valid for 5 years.

The longer validity period is intended to reduce paperwork and make international travel, visa applications and residence abroad easier for Grenada citizens. It also directly benefits investors who have applied, or plan to apply, under the Grenada citizenship by investment program, as under the current rules their passports are valid for longer from the first issuance.

According to the Government of Grenada, the fee for a 10-year adult passport is EC$350 (approximately US$130), broadly in line with the previous fee.

How strong is the Grenada passport?

Grenada is an island nation in the southern Caribbean, a region of hundreds of islands spread across the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic Ocean, southeast of the United States. Despite its small size and a population of just over 100,000, Grenada holds a strong position in global mobility.

Once a British colony, Grenada has a common law legal system, uses English as its official language and is a member of the Commonwealth — factors that have laid the groundwork for numerous bilateral and regional visa-free travel agreements. As a result, Grenada citizens can travel without a prior visa to more than 140 countries and territories, including major destinations such as:

  • The entire Schengen Area (Europe) – stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period
  • The United Kingdom – up to 6 months
  • China – up to 30 days (a privilege held by comparatively few passports)
  • Hong Kong, South Korea, Russia
  • The UAE and many countries in Africa and Latin America

Grenada is also the only one of the Caribbean citizenship by investment countries whose citizens are eligible for the U.S. E-2 Treaty Investor visa, under its bilateral investment treaty with the United States. Under this treaty, Grenada citizens may apply for an E-2 visa to live in the United States while developing and directing a business they have invested in, provided they have been domiciled in Grenada for a continuous period of at least 3 years before applying.

Grenada citizenship by investment: a second passport and greater global mobility

Thanks to the broad travel freedom a Grenada passport provides, the Grenada citizenship by investment program has attracted strong interest from investors worldwide, particularly those seeking a second citizenship.

Launched in 2013 and administered under government oversight, the program grants qualifying foreign investors permanent, legally recognized citizenship in around 10–12 months, with no residence requirement currently in force, no business experience requirement and no language requirement.

Investors can take part through one of two routes:

  • A contribution to the National Transformation Fund (NTF): from US$235,000
  • An investment in a government-approved real estate project: from US$270,000

In return, the investor and eligible family members (spouse, children, parents and siblings) receive Grenada passports, with a range of benefits:

  • Grenada citizenship is permanent and allows dual citizenship.
  • Visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 147 destinations, including the United Kingdom and the 29 countries of the Schengen Area (Germany, Italy, France, Finland and others). Citizens may stay in the Schengen Area for up to 90 days in any 180-day period and in the United Kingdom for up to 180 days a year.
  • The option to apply for a U.S. E-2 Treaty Investor visa (after being domiciled in Grenada for a continuous period of at least 3 years, as U.S. law requires of those who acquired citizenship through investment).
  • A favorable tax regime. Grenada does not tax non-resident citizens on their foreign-source personal or business income, and it levies no inheritance or gift tax.

IMM Group: a licensed agent for Grenada citizenship by investment since 2021

The Government of Grenada permits only licensed firms to market the Grenada citizenship by investment program, advise clients on it and prepare investment applications. Unlicensed advisory firms may act only as sub-agents of licensed firms and may not handle applications for clients directly. While many international firms hold this license, IMM Group is the first and only Vietnam-based firm licensed by the Government of Grenada to advise on the program, first licensed in 2021 and renewed in 2025.
