Grenada Citizenship by Investment Interview: IMM Group Clients Continue to Secure Approval Despite Stricter Vetting

As the first and only Vietnam-based firm licensed by the Government of Grenada as an International Marketing Agent for its citizenship by investment program, IMM Group continues to guide investor families through successful Grenada citizenship applications, even as the program now applies more rigorous due diligence, including a mandatory Grenada citizenship by investment interview.

A new Grenada CBI review and due diligence process designed to improve efficiency
In September 2023, the Government of Grenada announced that a mandatory interview would formally apply to all applicants aged 17 and over included in a citizenship application before approval is granted.
The new requirement is part of the program’s effort to strengthen its already rigorous due diligence procedures, with the aim of improving transparency and meeting the international standards agreed at the US–Caribbean roundtable on citizenship by investment in February 2023.
The Government of Grenada now conducts due diligence through global background checks on the investor and every family member included in the application, covering all countries where they have lived for 1 year or more in the past 10 years.
In addition to the mandatory interview, which strengthens due diligence, the Government has introduced automated systems for processing application data, making the review faster and more efficient. The processing authority also classifies applications into 3 risk levels (from low to high) based on reports from independent due diligence firms. The higher the risk level, the more detailed and multi-step the review, and the longer it takes. This explains why some applications are approved within 3–4 months, while others take closer to 1 year.
Although average processing times have increased significantly due to a growing backlog of applications, the Grenada citizenship program is still regarded as faster than many other permanent residence and citizenship by investment programs.
The Grenada citizenship interview in practice
The mandatory interview has drawn close attention from investors since Grenada announced the new rule. Based on IMM Group’s experience guiding many clients to approval, the process in practice is now more demanding than before, with more varied and detailed questions that investors must prepare for carefully.
The interview takes place in 2 rounds: round 1 with an automated question system, and round 2 with a government officer.
About 2–4 weeks after the application is submitted, the investor and family members receive an email from the processing authority asking them to complete a verification call for their Grenada citizenship application. Each member must complete the call within 7 days of receiving the email and may choose to use their native language.
About 3–6 weeks after the first interview, applicants take a second interview via Zoom with a government officer, at an appointment time they can choose. This interview is conducted in English. Investors who wish to use their own language must request this on the registration form, and the processing authority will arrange an interpreter to assist during the interview. Questions focus mainly on the applicant’s background, their assets, and the source of funds for the investment.
A well-planned application strategy built on IMM Group’s experience is key to a smooth, timely approval
Licensed by the Government of Grenada since 2021 to introduce its citizenship by investment program to clients and to prepare applications, IMM Group is the first and only Vietnam-based firm to hold this license and has since helped many investor families obtain Grenada citizenship. That hands-on experience has shown us that planning a sound application strategy from the outset is one of the key factors in securing approval.

At first glance, the requirements set by governments offering fast-track citizenship programs can seem simpler than those of traditional immigration programs. In practice, however, the Government of Grenada’s review is rigorous and detailed. Investors need strategic advice and a complete set of documents ready from the outset so they can respond to the Government of Grenada clearly and in full compliance with the law throughout the review. Otherwise, the application may face repeated requests for clarification, longer processing times, and a greater chance of refusal.
IMM Group recently had more good news to share: one of our clients and their family received a Grenada citizenship approval letter. Although the new review process is more demanding and new rules now apply, IMM Group’s extensive experience and meticulous preparation helped the client successfully meet this new challenge.

The Grenada citizenship by investment program is currently regarded as one of the faster citizenship programs, with a reasonable investment level and strong benefits. With a minimum investment starting at US$235,000 (for a family of up to 4), you and your eligible family members can qualify for Grenada citizenship and gain greater travel freedom, with visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to more than 140 destinations, including most European countries such as the UK, France, Germany, and Switzerland, along with other benefits.
